Tank Rent rents out its veteran military vehicles to film producers and to commemoration organisers.
In France, there is a huge community of military equipment collectors. For vehicles, there are fewer ‘big’ collectors, but all have the same passion. The Association pour la Conservation des Véhicules Militaires de la seconde guerre mondiale (ACVEMI, association for the preservation of Second World War military vehicles) is one such collector. Christian Dours, manager of the A.C.VE.MI., is in charge of the largest private collection of American vehicles.
Whether for a reconstitution, a film shoot or an inauguration, the tanks and other armoured vehicles of the Dours collection guarantee a great show and authenticity. The association, based in the Eure-et-Loir department south-west of Paris, restores and rents out all sorts of military equipment. Without realising it, you may have already glimpsed one of the Dours vehicles in:
- Arthur and the Invisibles, by Luc Besson
- Saving Private Ryan, by Steven Spielberg
- Volveremos, by Felip Solé
- Diplomacy, by Volker Schlöndorff
