Armoured vehicles
This vehicle provided unrivalled versatility and ease of driving for the time, with a top speed equalling that of the Jeep, enabling it to perform reconnaissance within enemy lines.
Designed in 1942 to meet a shortage of armoured reconnaissance vehicles in the US Army, the Ford M8 (M8 Light Armored Car) was named “Greyhound” by the British, reflecting its on-road and technical capabilities. From March 1943 to June 1945, 8,634 M8s were driven off the production lines.
Fast and quiet, this armoured car benefited from Ford technical developments. The Ford M8 has a very quiet rear-mounted engine cooled by two fans. The gearbox is full synchromesh, and the throttle and the clutch are hydraulic.
This vehicle has been restored with care, in its strict original configuration. It is in perfect working order, with its contemporary accessories and equipment, and regularly takes part in commemorations.
The Ford M8 has all its documents: prefectural possession permit order, certificate of neutralisation (disarming).
